«A formulator does not need an extract — they need a stated concentration of the active»

Indian manufacturer of cosmetic raw materials: standardised botanical extracts and bioactive compounds for skincare and haircare formulations

Company-provided data India
About the company

Sunpure Extracts Pvt. Ltd. is an Indian manufacturer of natural cosmetic ingredients. The company is registered in Delhi, its corporate office is in Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) and its manufacturing site is in Sikandrabad in the same state. The Government of India has granted it Star Export House status, and its own Sunpure Research Incubation Centre runs the research side of the work.

What is made here is not finished cosmetics but the raw material for those who formulate them. The difference between 'licorice extract' and 'glabridin 95%' is the whole point of this business: in a standardised active the concentration is stated and reproduced batch after batch, so a formula can be calculated and a label claim can be justified. The company standardises actives against a marker compound using pharmacopoeial or in-house methods and sets the concentration to the customer's brief.

The portfolio covers the main claims of modern skincare. Brightening and pigmentation — glabridin in three grades and tetrahydrocurcumin. A retinol alternative — bakuchiol 99%. Repair and barrier — Centella asiatica and its purified derivatives. Protection from oxidative stress — green tea, pterostilbene, rosemary extracts and vitamin E. A separate range holds around twenty-five essential and cold-pressed oils. According to the company, the portfolio is backed by five patents and twenty US DMF filings with the USFDA.

Active groups

Glabridin 40 / 90 / 95%

A flavonoid from licorice root; INCI Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Glabridin. According to the company it inhibits tyrosinase and melanin synthesis, which is why it is used in anti-pigmentation serums, under-eye care and anti-ageing formulas. The company offers it as a non-irritating alternative to hydroquinone. Three grades let the formulator match the concentration to the target cost of the formula.

Bakuchiol 99% (BAKUCHIpure™)

A meroterpene phenol from Psoralea corylifolia seed. The company reports stimulation of collagen synthesis, work on fine lines and skin texture, plus antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory action for blemish-prone skin. The property that matters in formulation is photostability: the active suits both day and night products, and that is what makes it a plant-based replacement for retinol.

Pongamol 95%

A flavonoid from Karanja seed (Pongamia pinnata). The company describes it as a natural UV filter: by its data the compound absorbs UVA and UVB and supports SPF formulations, while also acting as an antioxidant and a soothing agent. The role pongamol can play in a given product depends on the market: lists of permitted sunscreen filters are closed, so its regulatory status has to be checked for each target market separately. A dedicated US DMF has been filed.

Tetrahydrocurcumin 95% (TetraBeauty®)

A colourless derivative of curcumin from turmeric rhizome. The company reports strong antioxidant activity, brightening and anti-inflammatory action, and protection against UV-induced damage. Its practical advantage over curcumin is that it does not stain, so the active works in clear and light-coloured textures.

CENTpure® — Centella and its derivatives

Centella asiatica extracts standardised to the key triterpenes: asiaticoside 95%, madecassoside 95%, asiatic acid 95%, TECA 95% and triterpenes 95%. Used in soothing creams, barrier-repair products, care for sensitive and reactive skin, and in products that work on post-acne marks. Separate US DMF filings cover Centella and madecassoside: USDMF-033156 and USDMF-040257. The company standardises TECA 95% to asiaticoside 36–44% and total genins 54–66%.

Green tea and natural caffeine

Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract in several standardisations: EGCG 45%, catechins 70%, polyphenols 95% and natural caffeine 99%. The company offers this group for anti-ageing serums, oil-control and blemish care, and for sun care and after-sun products.

Pterocarpus marsupium (PTERObright™)

Bark extract of the Indian Kino tree containing pterostilbene. According to the company it combines antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action with support for collagen synthesis, works on tone and firmness, and offers natural UV protection. The company positions it for clean beauty formulations.

Vitamin E, phytosterols, rosemary and lecithin

Natural mixed tocopherols in oil at 50, 70 and 90%, d-alpha tocopherol and its acetate in IU grades, vitamin E TPGS. Phytosterols 90 and 95% as powder and granules, phytosterol esters 97%. From rosemary — carnosic acid from 5 to 50%, ursolic acid 25–40% and rosmarinic acid 6%. This group covers antioxidant protection and the stability of the formula itself.

Essential and cold-pressed oils

Around twenty-five items listed with their INCI names: tea tree, lavender, peppermint, rosemary, frankincense, chamomile, eucalyptus, neem, moringa, rosehip, rose, lemongrass, bergamot, karanja, ashwagandha, clove, cardamom, nutmeg, turmeric, cedarwood, vetiver, luffa and jojoba. Separately — walnut shell powder as a natural exfoliant.

How the raw material is handled here

Standardisation against a marker

The company standardises an active not 'in general' but to a specific level of the active compound: by pharmacopoeial or in-house methods, within an agreed concentration range, and with the future formula's requirements for colour, solubility and aroma in mind.

An extract built to the brief

Full development flexibility is offered: choice of plant part (leaf, flower, root, seed, fruit), solvent-based, solvent-free or supercritical CO₂ extraction, wildcrafted or conventional sourcing, preservation-free or with natural preservatives, and pH optimised for a specific formulation.

Every batch tested

According to the company, all cosmetic actives are analysed for pesticide residues, heavy metals, microbial limits and residual solvents, in line with international safety regulations.

The documentation a registration needs

The company supplies COA, MSDS/SDS, INCI, allergen declaration, heavy-metal data, residual-solvent information and microbiological analysis. That pack is what settles product registration questions in the target market.

In-house research

Research is run by the Sunpure Research Incubation Centre. According to the company, the centre holds five patents and twenty US DMF filings with the USFDA; links to the published dossiers are shared openly.

Export and certification

The company works for export and holds Star Export House status granted by the Government of India. The twenty US DMF filings with the USFDA are published openly and links are shared on request. The manufacturing facilities, as declared by the company, are certified to GMP and ISO, with HALAL and FSSAI registrations in place.
