Oily and Problem Skin: Care Without Over-Drying

Why aggressive degreasing is harmful and how to build balance: sebum regulation, gentle acids and soothing — using Dr.SANTE lines as an example.

Oily and Problem Skin: Care Without Over-Drying

Oily and problem skin is often over-dried with aggressive products — and in response it produces even more sebum. The right strategy is balance: regulate sebum, gently renew the skin and calm inflammation.

Sebum regulation without aggression

Ingredients that regulate sebum and soothe help here: mugwort (Artemisia) extract, niacinamide. According to research, mugwort extracts soothe irritation and show antibacterial activity (clinical data is limited).

At Dr.SANTE this is the Artemisia AKA line based on mugwort extract, with the proprietary LHA-SOL™ and AKA-DERM™.

Gentle acids instead of harsh ones

Gentle renewal is useful for problem skin. LHA (lipohydroxy acid) exfoliates delicately, closer to the skin's natural renewal, so it is tolerated better than harsh acids. PHA are large molecules that give gentle exfoliation with hydration.

This makes it possible to work with pores and texture without over-drying.

Don't forget hydration

Even oily skin needs moisture. Dehydration increases oily shine and tightness. Light hydration based on hyaluronic acid (Hyalquad Core) balances the skin without weighing it down.

Soothing products with azulene help with inflammation.

Building the routine

A basic set: gentle cleansing, a sebum-regulating toner or ampoule (Artemisia AKA), light hydration, targeted soothing, and gentle exfoliation as tolerated.
