Sensitive Skin: How to Build a Korean Skincare Routine
What matters for reactive skin and how to build a gentle routine: soothing ingredients, delicate cleansing and hydration — using Dr.SANTE lines as an example.
Sensitive skin reacts easily with redness, tightness and irritation. The goal of a routine is not to suppress the symptoms aggressively, but to reduce triggers and strengthen the barrier. Let's go over the principles and the Korean solutions that fit.
Gentle cleansing
The first step is delicate cleansing with a mildly acidic pH close to healthy skin (around 5.5), without over-drying. Milk or gel cleansers work well — they remove impurities and sunscreen residue while leaving a hydrating layer.
At Dr.SANTE these are the cleansers of the Azulene Soother line, made with chamomile water.
Soothing ingredients
Reactive skin benefits from soothing ingredients: azulene and guaiazulene, chamomile water, panthenol, ceramides. According to research, azulene has an anti-inflammatory effect (the data is mostly preclinical).
The core of the routine is a toner, an ampoule and a cream with azulene. Important: if you are allergic to plants of the Asteraceae family (chamomile, mugwort), introduce such products with caution.
Hydration and the barrier
Dehydration increases sensitivity. Hyaluronic acid retains moisture, while ceramides and panthenol support the barrier. Combining soothing and hydration works better than either one alone.
It makes sense to complement the Azulene Soother line with the hydrating Hyalquad Core.
Building the routine
A basic set: gentle cleansing, a soothing toner, an ampoule or serum, a cream, and sun protection if needed. Gentle exfoliation (PHA/LHA) — as tolerated, delicately.
